When the final whistle blew at the Gtech Community Stadium, the groans said everything. Brentford and Fulham played out a 0-0 draw in a West London derby that had all the ingredients for goals but none of the finishing to go with them.
For Brentford, it is now six draws in a row, a streak that is slowly strangling their historic bid for European football.

The game started at a pace with both sides going for it early. As early as the 9th minute, Brentford created its first real chance. A corner was lofted into the area, and Igor Thiago rose to head it, but missed the target completely.
In just the 5th minute, Fulham’s Sasa Lukic was shown a yellow card for a hard foul on Kevin Schade, setting the tone for a feisty, physical encounter.
Keane Lewis-Potter then had Brentford’s best moment of the half, he brilliantly beat two Fulham defenders in the box with a piece of skilful footwork, but then lifted his shot over the bar. It was a glorious opportunity completely wasted.
Fulham suffered a major blow when Alex Iwobi went off clutching his hamstring and was replaced. Despite losing their key midfielder, Fulham kept pressing.
Ryan Sessegnon found space in the box, shot across goal with his right foot, and the ball deflected wide off a Brentford defender. Agonisingly close. The teams went in at halftime level at 0-0.
Second Half, Bernd Leno Becomes the Story
Brentford came out after the break with real urgency, throwing everything forward. The chances kept coming, and kept being wasted. Dango Ouattara drove into the box on the right side and struck across goal with his left foot, but Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno made a fine save to keep it out.
Ouattara crossed into the area, and Kevin Schade headed it firmly; Leno saved again. The German goalkeeper was simply outstanding, denying Brentford at every turn.
From set pieces, Brentford were equally unlucky. Mikkel Damsgaard rose to meet a corner and headed towards the corner of the net, but missed.
Minutes later, Nathan Collins got his head to another corner from the middle of the box, and missed again.
Fulham made changes, bringing on Antonee Robinson, Oscar Bobb, Joshua King, and Raul Jimenez to find a winner, but their attacking threat faded. Sasa Lukic fired from the edge of the box in the second half and dragged his shot wide of the target.
The final whistle came to frustrated groans from the home supporters. All those chances. No goals.
Brentford’s Draw Streak: What Does It Mean for Europe?
This result is deeply painful for Brentford. Brentford have now drawn six consecutive matches, and their European dream is slipping through their fingers one goalless stalemate at a time.
The Bees are five points behind fifth-placed Liverpool with six games remaining. They need wins, not draws, and today was another massive opportunity missed.
Igor Thiago, who came in as their 21-goal striker and biggest hope, was well marshalled by a disciplined Fulham backline and could not add to his tally on the day.

Brentford remain 7th with 48 points. Fulham stay 12th with 47 points. The gap between them is now just one point, meaning Fulham could leapfrog Brentford in the coming weeks if the Bees do not rediscover their winning formula urgently.
With only six games left, Brentford’s European qualification dream is fading fast.
